Rate is required if Rate Per Unit not set on the Pay Item in Xero
If Use Xero Pay Rates for Payslips is not enabled, this error appears when the rate is not provided in the file and is also not set on the pay item itself. To resolve it, add the rate to the pay item or to the file and revalidate.
Rate is required if Rate Per Unit not set on the Pay Item or Pay Template in Xero
If Use Xero Pay Rates for Payslips is enabled, this error appears when the rate is not provided in the file and is not set on the employee’s pay template or on the pay item itself. To resolve it, add the rate to the pay item, pay template, or the file and revalidate.
This error can also appear if the payslip was manually edited to remove the line of the same type that is normally added from the pay template. In that case, resetting the payslip (or deleting and recreating the pay run) before revalidating your file will resolve the issue.
Payslip no longer exists in Xero
This message appears when the payslip UpSheets recorded for an employee and pay period is no longer in Xero. The usual cause is that the pay run was deleted and recreated, or the payslip was removed, after you last validated the file. Xero issues a new payslip for the new pay run, so the one UpSheets has is out of date.
Validation continues instead of stopping, and UpSheets falls back to a rate it can still read:
- Pay item has a rate per unit – that rate is used, and the message tells you which rate was applied.
- Rate comes from a multiple – UpSheets reads the ordinary earnings rate from the employee’s pay template, which is still available.
- No rate available anywhere – you also see one of the rate errors on this page.
Revalidate the file before you upload. Uploading writes to the payslip that is currently in Xero, so it fails while the recorded payslip is missing. Revalidating reloads pay runs and payslips from Xero and links your lines to the current payslip.
