Connect BrightHR to UpSheets

You can connect UpSheets directly to BrightHR to import Blip clock-in data and approved absences, then upload them to Xero. This removes the need to export and import CSV files for those transaction types. For the full setup path with videos, see the BrightHR overview. You can still import BrightHR CSV exports if you prefer.

Enabling the BrightHR integration

BrightHR data is accessed with OAuth2 client credentials. Create an application in BrightHR, then enter the Client ID and Client Secret in UpSheets.

Create an application in BrightHR

Sign in to BrightHR as an administrator, then:
  1. Navigate to My Account > API Access > Manage API Keys.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Enter the application name (we suggest UpSheets), then click Create Application.
  4. Note the Client ID.
  5. Click Create Secret and copy the Client Secret.
Store the Client Secret securely. BrightHR only shows it once.

Enter credentials in UpSheets

  1. Select Integrations from the menu.
  2. Click the BrightHR tab.
  3. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret, review Enabled (on by default for a new connection), then click Save.
  4. UpSheets validates new or changed credentials before saving. If validation fails, your previous connection stays in place and the form keeps what you typed.
The Client Secret is masked after a successful save. Nothing is written until you click Save.
For a new connection, Enabled starts on; you can turn it off before saving. An existing connection that is disabled stays disabled until you turn Enabled on and click Save. Turning Enabled off and clicking Save keeps your saved connection; Disconnect removes saved credentials and connection settings, and you must connect again. Previous imports and uploaded data remain. You can then import data from BrightHR.
