When to use this

Use weekly overtime when overtime depends on total hours across a week or assessment period, not just hours in a single day. For example, an employee may receive ordinary pay up to 38 hours in the week, then overtime after 38 hours.

Before You Start

Open or create the Smart Formula from Smart Formulas > Configure. Check the organisation’s Start Day / Period in Smart Formula Settings. If employees use different assessment periods, enable employee-level overrides and set them during assignment.

Example Setup: Single Weekly Threshold

Example Setup: Tiered Weekly Overtime

Use 168 as the upper limit for a weekly rule when the rule should cover the rest of the week.

Worked Example

If the employee works 42 hours in the week:

Test the Example

Before publishing:
  1. Open Smart Formulas > Simulate.
  2. Add enough shifts to pass the weekly threshold.
  3. Click Run Simulation.
  4. Check that hours only move to weekly overtime after the assessment-period threshold is reached.
If the week starts on the wrong day, update Smart Formula Settings or the employee-level override.
