Timesheets

In New Zealand and the United Kingdom, Xero limits each employee to 24 total hours on a single date in timesheets. If you assign a monthly total, such as basic hours or overtime hours, to one date, Xero will reject it once the total for that employee and date exceeds 24 hours.

If you want to upload monthly totals instead of daily timesheet entries, New Zealand organisations can often load those totals as payslip lines instead. This is not available in the United Kingdom because Xero does not allow any third-party app to upload or edit UK payslips.

type	The Earnings Rate for the hours worked. Must match the text of the Earnings Rate in Xero.	Text	Optional, but if not in the file a default or the employee default must be selected at import or by using multiple pay items.
tracking_code	The Tracking Code for the hours worked. Must match the text of the Tracking Code in Xero.	Text	Required on every line when tracking categories are enabled in Xero (Xero validation). If the column is omitted, select a default at import. See Tracking Categories.

The hours value must be worked hours. Unpaid meal breaks do not need their own line. If the file uses start and end times with separate break rows, use Break Types or a Break Removal rule in Smart Formulas.

You may use a single full_name column instead of first_name and last_name.

You may optionally provide a Start Time and End Time column instead of a single Hours column where hours are required.
