When to use this
Use a shift break rule when a break should be deducted from each individual shift that meets an hour range. For example, deduct a 30-minute meal break from each weekday shift longer than 4 hours and shorter than 8 hours. Before You Start
Open or create the Smart Formula from Smart Formulas > Configure. Break removal rules do not create pay items or payslip lines. They only deduct time from generated Smart Formula lines.Example Setup
The shift hours must be greater than the minimum and less than the maximum. A
4-8 range applies to shifts over 4 hours and under 8 hours.
Worked Example
Breaks are deducted from the latest sub-line first, then earlier sub-lines if needed. The total cannot go below zero.
Test the Example
Before publishing:- Open Smart Formulas > Simulate.
- Add shifts below, inside, and above the break range.
- Click Run Simulation.
- Confirm the break only applies to shifts inside the range and on the selected days.
