When to use this

Use the End Period Only modifier when the whole shift should use a rate because the shift finishes in a particular period. For example, some awards apply an evening rate to the full shift if the shift ends after 20:00.

Before You Start

Open or create the Smart Formula from Smart Formulas > Configure. End period modifiers can be used on ordinary time and daily overtime rules. They are not used on allowance, weekly overtime, or break removal rules.

Worked Example

If an employee works Monday from 18:00 to 22:00: The whole shift uses the evening rule because the shift ended inside the evening period. If an employee works Monday from 09:00 to 17:00:

Test the Example

Before publishing:
  1. Open Smart Formulas > Simulate.
  2. Add a shift that ends inside the configured period.
  3. Add a shift that ends outside the configured period.
  4. Click Run Simulation.
  5. Confirm only the evening-finish shift uses the end-period-only rate.
