When to use this

Use the Minimum and Maximum modifier when a time-period rule should only apply to part of the matched time window. This is useful when a time window needs smaller bands inside it, such as the first 2 hours worked between midnight and 06:00.

Before You Start

Open or create the Smart Formula from Smart Formulas > Configure. Minimum and maximum hour modifiers are used with time-period rules. The minimum and maximum band must fit inside the containing time window. For example, if the time window is 00:00-06:00, use a shorter band such as 0-2, not 0-8.

Example Setup

This example pays two early-morning rates inside the 00:00-06:00 window: one for the first 2 hours and one for the next 2 hours.

Worked Example

If an employee works Monday from 01:00 to 05:00: The shift is fully inside the 00:00-06:00 time window, so the minimum and maximum settings split the matched 4 hours into two 2-hour bands.

Test the Example

Before publishing:
  1. Open Smart Formulas > Simulate.
  2. Add a shift that works at least 4 hours inside the configured time window.
  3. Click Run Simulation.
  4. Confirm the generated lines are split at the configured minimum and maximum hours.
