When to use this

Use a minimum engagement allowance when a short shift should be topped up to a minimum number of hours. For example, if an employee works 1 hour but must be paid for at least 4 hours, the allowance can add the missing 3 units.

Before You Start

Open or create the Smart Formula from Smart Formulas > Configure. Minimum engagement allowances create allowance units equal to the threshold minus the hours worked.

Worked Example

You can also set a lower bound. For example, a 1-2 hour range only applies when the shift is more than 1 hour and less than 2 hours.

Test the Example

Before publishing:
  1. Open Smart Formulas > Simulate.
  2. Add short shifts below and near the minimum engagement threshold.
  3. Click Run Simulation.
  4. Confirm the allowance units equal the missing hours.
